THE HUB JOHANNESBURG
FASHION DISTRICT, JOHANNESBURG
The recently established Hub Johannesburg required an adaptable space for their social-entrepreneur members to work, learn and collaborate. The communal spaces for this group of change-makers became central to the design approach. As a continuous work-in-progress, mobile furniture allows the users to define spaces specific to their changing needs. A limited budget inspired simple furniture using found wire-mesh cages, cardboard tubes, standard plumbing connections, doors as tabletops. A dedicated working space flanks the event space, which provides a secondary revenue stream.
