END OF CITIES

JOHANNESBURG

2011

Taxi Geographies is a project that emerges out of need to understand and respond to the chaotic phenomenon of the South African minibus taxi. The taxi is a vital form of transport in South Africa’s spatially challenged cities bringing with it significant social and spatial consequences. These consequences, if critically explored could provide valuable insights into how the industry to be better suited to the urban contexts it serves. The project explores this phenomenon through a series of drawings, field trips, workshops and conversations.
