The brief called to a reconfiguration of an existing one-bedroom apartment in the heart of the Cape Town CBD adjacent the historic Church Square. The design orientates the interior of the apartment towards the square such that all activities (sleeping, working, eating, preparing food) has the square as its subject. Through removing all interior walls and allowing only multifunctional joinery to separate living and sleeping space, the apartment is devoid of cellular partitions allowing the user to appropriate the living space to their changing needs.
