Set in the untouched natural beauty of the Natal Midlands, the project called for a facility to harness the tourism potential of the area for the benefit of the local rural community. Programmatically this comprised a conference facility, market stalls, restaurants, workshops and food gardens. Accommodation facilities were provided to generate income. To acknowledge the dramatic and untouched landscape, the siting of the buildings where informed by the folds in the undulating landscape to ensure they were not seen from afar. Materials were locally sourced.
