ARCHITECT & URBAN DESIGNER
Thiresh is strangely obsessed by this city and its workings. He thinks that the most extraordinary design in architecture and urbanism is produced through it and wants to be a part of it. He curates the studio’s interests and projects by looking intently and acting incisively to reveal the wild beauty of this city. In his spare time he runs after his two kids at home and older ones at the university where he teaches.
That 'standing out' feeling? We are open to engage with new collaborators both as members of our team and project partners. Drop us a line to see how we could make magic together.
KHADEEJA SAMSODIEN SASMAN
Khadeeja is the backbone of the studio keeping systems, projects and resources in fine balance. Being a natural multi-tasker with exceptional project management and organisation skills she moves easily between projects and studio management. She is a highly skilled manager and systematic thinker in getting things done and our resident go-to person (before, during and after meltdowns). She keeps our S#@t together.
JESSICA BLUMBERG MUSIKER
Jessica is an architect who believes the profession has a role to play in combating social and environmental issues, with a particular interest in tackling the intersectional questions of gender, race and class inequality. Jessica is passionate about design and takes her work almost as seriously as her vegan diet.
Mandy is a candidate architect who recently completed her Masters at the GSA, UJ. Mandy loves living and working in the city of Johannesburg and wants to play an active role in making it a African world class city.
JIAXIN YAN GONG
Yan is intrigued by the delicate underworkings of the city and believes in the importance of holding these in space to acknowledge their contributions in the construction of our spaces (social and political). She is obsessed about the translation of these observations and ideas into (form) so as to speculate on the potential of the underworkings.
CANDIDATE ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
Paul is an Architectural Graduate who finds himself curious as he investigates the complexities of South African cities. His interests align with the new vernacular and layered convolutions of the ‘New African City’ with a focus on the role architecture has in the mediation between South Africa’s social tensions. Paul splits his down time between his multitude of hobbies – including carpentry, photography and mountain biking.
Kyle is a candidate Architect with a passion for both design and realisation. He takes a particular hands on approach to engage within disciplines of evolving Architectural technologies and effective design strategies. His design interests lie in adaptive stategies that challenge the current redundancy within Architectural practices. He is a real team player that is always willing to fix a chair or put up a bracket.
